23 Weeks Pregnant

6 Oct
I almost forgot to take the 23 weeks picture!  Michael reminded me after I had taken my hair down after it had been up all day, so pardon the messy tresses…
"Your baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound. His skin is red and wrinkled. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare him for breathing. He can swallow, but he normally won’t pass his first stool (called meconium) until after birth. Loud noises heard often in utero — such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner — probably won’t faze your baby when he hears them outside the womb."
"The pigment that colors your baby’s skin is being deposited this week. Even though fat is accumulating on your baby’s body, the skin hangs loosely, giving your baby a wrinkled appearance. This happens because the skin is produced more quickly than the fat accumulates.

Your baby’s daily workout routine includes moving the muscles in the fingers, toes, arms, and legs regularly. As a result, you may feel more forceful movement.

By now your baby weighs approximately 1 pound (450 grams)."
