Gettin’ my exercise

5 Jan
I skipped the morning walk with the dog this morning because I was so tired from being awake between 4:30 and 6:00 a.m. (for no particular reason that I could discern).  I always feel a bit guilty when I don’t go because I usually enjoy it once I’m out there, and there’s no reason why I shouldn’t be getting this healthy dose of exercise.
Two different organizations in Whitehorse run "Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies" programs.  One is the Victoria Faulkner Women’s Centre and the other is the Francophone Association.  I love meeting with other expecting and new moms, so I’ve decided to start going regularly.  The French one only happens about once a month, while the English one takes place every week.  Today, there was supposed to be one at the Francophone Centre, so I walked over to their building (about 8 blocks — a long walk with the cold wind today!) but it turned out that the date had been changed!
"No problem," I thought.  I’ve been wanting to go buy a nursing bra, and the store that sells them happens to be right across the street, so I figured I hadn’t wasted my energy.  Of course, as soon as I started to cross the street I could see the big "CLOSED" sign on the door.  A smaller sign explained that the store would be closed for Christmas holidays unitl January 8.
To console myself, I went into the nice but expensive café next door and bought a small hot chocolate to warm up my insides for the cold walk back.  I ended up going to the Women’s Centre, where the English program was taking place, so I was rewarded in the end.  Plus, I ended up getting a longer walk than if I had gone out with the dog this morning!
