Blog neglect

13 Jan
I haven’t been as diligent lately about posting to the blog.  Partly this is because I’m busy trying to get things done at work, but partly it’s because every single thing I can think of posting about is about the baby.  I guess it’s natural that the impending birth consumes 90% of my brain, but I think everyone must want to read about something different once in a while.  The few things I do think of that are non-baby-related end up on Michael’s blog before I get a chance to write about them.  Oh well, I guess you all just have to put up with a baby-obsessed me and get your entertainment on other subjects from other blogs.
I didn’t get a chance to go see those dressers the other day.  Our car was being serviced, and the mechanic was 45 minutes late bringing the car back to me.  I won’t complain, though, because the shop is not right in town and they were nice enough to pick it up and drive it back to my office for me.  Anyway, I missed the appointment with the dresser guy, but Michael walked over.  He said it won’t knock my socks off as a great piece of furniture (it apparently has a 70s look and feel to it) but it’ll do the job and is only $65.  We saw one at Wal-Mart for $170 that would have been perfect, except it’s only 29" high, so we’d be bending over to use it as a change table.  So 70s chic it is!  We’re probably picking it up today.
Last night Michael went to his band practice while I got some things done around the house.  I cleaned up the guest room so that it’ll be ready for when my mom comes on February 27th.  I lined the baby’s mattress with masking tape, sticky side up, so that I can leave the nursery door open — if Crook jumps in there, he’ll get a nasty surprise and will (I hope!) never try it again.  I got a few other mundane tasks done and then was ready for bed. I didn’t even want to do my belly picture, as I had huge bags under my eyes, so we’ll do that tonight instead.
I have to admit that I’m really starting to look forward to maternity leave.  I hope baby will give me at least a week so that I can just sleep in and get all the little things done!
