Landmark Outing

19 Mar
I forgot to mention that my Mom and I went out for dinner last night.  This is a big deal because it’s the first time I’ve been out for dinner since Jade was born.  Toting a baby around in order to avoid cooking just isn’t worth it.  Actually it probably wouldn’t be that difficult, but somehow thinking about it is.  Besides, any licenced establishment in the Yukon doens’t allow anyone under the age of 19 through its doors, so that quite dramatically cuts down on cuisine possiblities.
We went to dinner at Amanda and Philippe’s house.  They live a few streets away in our neighbourhood and they had a son, Louis, 3 days after we had Jade.  They also have a 2-year-old cherub named Bella.  (Upon our arrival, Bella insisted that I read her the story of Professor Dig – twice.)  We had a lovely veggie stir-fry, moose, rice, and salad along with our multi-lingual evening.  Philippe’s parents were visiting (from France) and they speak very little (that is, no) English, whereas my mom speaks very little (that is, no) French, so it was fun saying everything twice – good practice for me!
Jade was pretty darned angelic, I must admit.  She was alert and listening and watching everything around her for a while.  Then she had a short feed (at the table, and Louis ate at the same time) and went off to sleep.  It was so easy, I just may do it again.
Uh oh, I’d better go find some wood to touch.
