Home from the wilds

19 Jun
We’re back from our weekend of camping with many fond memories, sore muscles, and mosquito bites!  Our weekend started out rainy, but by the afternoon, when we arrived at Teslin Lake, it was clearing up and then even got downright sunny.  We had a lovely beach to pitch our tent on and there was even a cabin with a propane stove we were hardly roughing it when it came to meals.  (Michael set up the firebox, though, which was perfect for grilling our steaks, chicken, and sausages…)

Our hike through the somewhat mushy woods on Sunday ended up with all of us getting lots of mosquito bites (Jade has at least 25, mostly on her face and head) and we never did make it to the lookout because partway up Nanuq scented a large animal of some kind.  Michael figures it was his moose grumble, but since we’d seen signs of bears, we didn’t fool around.  It was still a pretty nice hike, though, despite the stinging insects.

Jade absolutely loved hiking (she hasn’t learned to hate the mosquitos) and giggled a lot when she wasn’t sleeping.  I thought it was because she could seen Nanuq running in front of us, but even when he was out of sight, she was laughing.  I guess she’s her father’s child!  She also loved the boat ride — on the way to the campsite, she kept sticking her tongue out as if to taste the wind.

I’ve added 18 pictures to the "Summertime Jade" album.  None of these are from the camping trip, but those ones will be up soon.

I LOVE all the new pictures. Jade gets more adorable every single day. I\’m so glad that outfit fits her and it looks adorable on her if I do say so myself. Just think in a few months you are going to be exhausted trying to keep Nanuq and Crook\’s toys out of Jade\’s mouth!

    The photos are great.
I\’m not surprised Jade enjoyed the camping trip – and really glad she doesn\’t react to mosquitoes the way Granny and I do!
    What a cutie!
