Four years and a bath

12 Oct
Four years ago today, Michael and I got married.  It was a beautiful fall day and we were surrounded by our friends and family who helped us make some wonderful memories.  It’s hard to believe that it was really four whole years ago!  Michael is upstairs cooking Cornish Hens and Jade is in bed — hopefully for a few hours, at least!

Jade and I attended Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies today, which was great because we missed last week, since that was the day of Jade’s surgery.  Everyone was happy to see Jade doing so well.  Two minutes after I got in the door and said hello to everyone, a florist delivery guy arrived with (well, what else?) flowers… for me!  Michael sent me some beautiful orange Gerbera daisies, one of my favourite flowers.  (I had Gerberas in my wedding bouquet.)  It was doubly a surprise because Michael hates to buy cut flowers, as he thinks it’s a waste.  (I’ve always maintained that it doesn’t matter what he thinks of them, since I love them and he’s not buying them for himself.)  However, he caved this year because the traditional anniversary gift for a fourth anniversary is fruit or flowers.

Later in the afternoon, I was in the basement playing with Jade as Michael worked.  We heard steps at the front door, and then knocking.  I rushed upstairs to see who was there, expecting a neighbour.  It wasn’t a neighbour, however, but a florist delivery guy (in fact, the same one who had appeared at Healthy Moms) with another bouquet, this time of red and fuschia Gerberas.  Bewildered (though happy!) I went back downstairs to ask Michael what the deal was.

"I wanted to send you two bouqets so that you’d be surprised twice!" he said.

What can you do with a man like that?  (I kissed him!)

So I have high hopes that Jade will stay asleep better tonight than she did a few nights ago.  She was finally allowed to have a bath again today, as it’s been a week since her surgery.  The sponge bathing and showers really didn’t cut it this past week.  Jade seemed to love being back in her bath, and went to sleep quickly.  Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Now, I had better go upstairs and see if I can do anything to help Michael.  It smells delicious already!
