Before and After

30 Oct
Lindsay says I should have had before and after shots of my hair.  I did take some photos with my new haircut, but there wasn’t enough time to get them off the camera.  As for "before" pictures, I can’t remember the last time I had a picture taken of me that I thought was at all flattering, so we’ll just go with the profile picture that’s always on my blog.  My hairstyle (or lack of one) hadn’t changed much since it was taken last summer — until Saturday, that is.
So, for your comparing pleasure, I am posting a picture from Saturday afternoon.  The ends are doing some crazy flips because, well, you know how hairstylists like to style your hair in a way that you would never do it yourself, just so it’ll be different from your everyday look.  (And so that you’ll know you can’t live without them because you could never in a million years replicate what they do.)  Actually, though, my hair actually does do a bit of flipping with this cut, even since I washed it.  It has always been a bit curly when wet (though Lindsay and Marian will laugh at the way I use the word "curl") but it always dried straight.  (Jade’s hair does this, too.)
Michael and I are still trying to get used to my bangs.  We both think they make me look somewhat older, which, at this stage of the game isn’t necessarily what I want.  I’m hoping it’s not actually frumpy.  However, I must admit, upon reviewing pictures from the past few months (in which I never have a lick of makeup on – urg), it does at least have some style to it.
I had seriously contemplated cutting it totally short (and my hair had been long enough that I could have had it donated to a program where they use it to make wigs for kids with cancer) but then decided that I might not be ready to actually go that far.  Now I’m thinking I might still go short, but I’ll have to wait for my hair to grow a bit again or I’ll feel really selfish for not giving my hair to someone(s) who could use it.
I’ve decided that whether it looks great or awful, this hairstyle works for me.  Why, Jade has hardly pulled my hair once since Saturday and the only time I’ve had it in a ponytail is when we were in the hot springs yesterday.  And I didn’t look like a skinned rabbit when I did have it in a ponytail.  (Perhaps more like an apple with a bit of fringe on it.  And glasses.)  And it dried so much faster.  Yes, this is definitely making my life easier.
So, without further ado, my apres-coiffeuse look.  Go ahead and be brutal.
And for those of you who linked off Urban Yukon, forgive the totally narcissistic posts, but, hey, family actually cares about this stuff.

    You\’re REALLY REALLY gorgeous.
Oh boy, Such a lovely woman in that wild country.
I have only one idea in mind. Offer you a bunch of flowers.
    Kiss on the cheek, Mom

I likes! But I also likesded you with the short short hair when you started University. I actually cut my hair short short because I liked it so much. But it never looked as good on you as it did on me. Possibly in part because I\’m just too lazy.

I have no idea who "kein Name" is, but it sure doesn\’t sound like my Mom.  Oh well, I\’ll take the compliment, anyway — haha!

Nemmy, even though people will take us for twins, we really are different enough that different things work for us; remember, we can\’t even trade makeup!  I think you carry off the long, long hair much better than I do.  (Possibly because I need to lose a few pounds…)

Oh! I just saw this post now – I wasn\’t just not replying, especially since you went to the effort to post the pic. I think it\’s really cute. I does make you look older but not "old" older (if that makes any sense). It\’s really cute and trendy (not that I\’m at all trendy these days).
