Trashing my computer

16 Jan
I should be blogging about our adventures at the daycare today, but instead I will relate how terrified I am that I may be about to trash my computer for good.  I’ve been wanting to clean it up for a while — just reinstall Windows — but I didn’t realize it would be so involved.  The computer I have is left over from when I was a Clarica advisor and the fact that it was set up to run their programs has left a bit of a strange legacy.  For example, today I had to call the "SFTS Hotline" (the Advisors’ help line) to find out what the heck my "set-up" password was.  I knew I had a Power-On password, but didn’t know that if I tried to go into Windows set-up mode, there was a different password to use.  Scary.

So I’ll probably be computerless for a day as we upgrade my system.  And I hope it won’t be more than that.  Wish us luck!

Hey, I won\’t disagree, but my thrifty side says I\’d better run this PC into the ground first. 🙂

Ahhhh!!! I\’m going insane! I\’m the lucky guy that is helping Fawn with the XP upgrade. I also suggested to Fawn that she get a Mac. Haha. The upgrade was really painful. It\’s still not done. The computer\’s cd drive is broken so there is no way to upgrade from that. We tried using an external USB drive but the computer/bios was too old to allow for usb bootup. Tried so many options but still failed…We just bought a old cdrom drive off eBay for cheap and hopefully this will solve the problem. In the future, I suggest everyone get a Mac (less painful for Mac users that try to support PC users). 😉
