Shine up those dancing shoes!

6 Feb

swing.jpgIt’s about time I tell you something of the gig The Big Band has coming up this Saturday.  On February 9th, we’ll be playing at the annual Dessert & Dance at Porter Creek Secondary.  We had a capacity crowd for our dance at Mount Mac; if you were there, you know how much fun it was.  If you missed it, here’s your chance to make up for it!

This promises to be a fun night because, really, what more could you ask for?  An evening of dancing to great music plus dessert, and even a swing dance lesson thrown into the bargain!  By going, you’re also supporting young local musicians (and I’m not talking about those of us in The Big Band.)

The Junior Jazz Band and Senior Jazz Combo from the school will kick things off; this event  a fundraiser for them to do their band trips in the spring.  After they’ve finished playing, you’ll get a professional swing lesson, and then The Big Band will step in so that you can practice your new-found dancing skills for the rest of the evening.

Tickets are available at Mac’s Fireweed Books, or you can call 667-9044 or 667-8665.  They cost $10 each, or $35 for a family of four or more.  The evening will be underway starting at 7 p.m.

Ahhhh…I love swing dancing. I’d like to come. Unfortunately, we’ve been invited to a Mardis Gras party and a Chinese New Year party for this Saturday. Oh, and we live 3137.50 miles (according to Yahoo maps) from you. Glad they added the .5 for accuracy, no? So I guess we probably won’t be there. If I’m honest, I also have to admit that -40 doesn’t totally and completely appeal to me. 🙂 But I’m sure the music will be great.

I’m glad you came and commented again, though, cause I couldn’t find your blog address when my bookmarks history got eaten. Nice to poke around here and catch up! Stay warm.

Hi MommyTime! Thanks for coming by again, and sorry to hear you can’t come on Saturday (*chuckle*). Sounds like you’ll be having a good time, anyway!

Hmm, 3137.5 miles, eh? That narrows things down a bit! 😉
